*** Church covid update ***
Hi all

I’m sure you’re aware (as it’s been in the news this week), but for those who haven’t, there is now a requirement in law to wear a face covering in most public spaces (including places of worship). From today a face covering needs to be worn when in a place of worship.   However, there is some good news, as per the government announcement you may (if you wish) remove your face mask during singing (which will make SO much difference during our carol services), this is down to personal choice.

So, in the light of the new guidance, please can you ensure that when attending any service at the church that (unless you are singing as part of the morning or evening service), that you ensure you have a face covering on at all times.   This includes entering and exiting the building, as well as before and after the service, and whilst seated within the building.   Also for clarity,  please remember a visor does not constitute a face covering.

Thankfully we ARE permitted to sing carols this Christmas time together which is a big difference to last year and for this we should be thankful.  The thought of another empty church over the Christmas period and people isolated in their homes is not something any of us want to see return.

On a practical note,  can we ask that if  you wish NOT to sing without your face covering, please sit nearer the back(and obviously if you wish to sing without a face covering you sit as close to the front as you can), that way hopefully everybody will be happy and feel comfortable whilst in the building.  We will obviously continue to live stream (with the exception of the nativity which will NOT be live-streamed) over the Christmas period.

Hope that makes sense!  So in short:-

1: Face coverings MUST now be worn within the church and the Youth Hall at all times, but can be removed while singing is taking place as part of the service.
2: Sit as close to the FRONT of the church if you want to sing without a face covering, sit as close to the BACK of the church if you’d rather wear a face covering for singing.

Obviously we will continue to ventilate the building to let in fresh air (so wrap up warm), and ask you to gel your hands etc on entry and when exiting the building to ensure we minimise any risk of transmission.

Sorry it’s another covid email, but obviously we’re in a changing world and as and when things change we need to ensure we react to it in order to keep people safe and have a good witness in the community.  I think that’s it for now, but if you have any questions fire them over and I’ll do my best to answer them or find our the answer for you.

Finally, I hope it goes without saying, that if you find yourself isolating because of covid please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the church so we can pray for you and offer any practical help we can.     That’s it I think, really look forward to seeing you on Sunday morning and in the evening for our first carol service since 2019.  Praying you and your families will all stay safe this Christmas as we celebrate God’s indescribable gift!

God bless

James

ps if you are exempt for wearing a face covering for medical reasons you obviously do not need to wear one by law when inside the church
